My favorite things: 1st Edition

Here are a few of my favorite things as of right now:

1.  Day lilies
Nick picks these for me along the backroads of Arkansas and I love them!  Each bloom lasts only a day, but when those die, there is a whole new round of blooming flowers.  Each day is like a new bouqet and it lasts for several days.  Best part - they are free!  Aren't they beautiful?

2. Poppyseed Chicken

Seeing as we are both employed by a chicken company, we have a lot of chicken at our house.  So we're always looking for good chicken recipes and we have found one of our new favorites from Carol Spenst.  Thanks Carol, for this delicious recipe!!!  We have already made it twice sice we found it and it is delicious!
It's called Poppyseed Chicken, but it should be called a piece of heaven for your mouth.  haha.  :)  Ok, that might be a little over the top, but it is seriously so good.  You can find the recipe here: Poppyseed Chicken.

3. Heaven is For Real

I took a vacation day a few weeks ago (someone accidentally took my car keys up to Missouri and Caleb and I were stuck at home! So I took advantage) and finished the book in one day!  It was that good!  I know a lot of people have been raving about this book and it's with good reason.  It gives you a new perspective on childlike faith and excitement for our eternity in Heaven.  Also, it is such a comfort to read in light of the recent passings of my Grandma Willis and Grandpa Goetz.

4. My boys, of course.  :)

New boat!

Nick and Tyler just got a new (to us, anyway) boat for our families to share.  It's a nice little fishing boat they got for $100.  They have since got a trolling motor, battery, and battery charger (thanks Uncle Don) for it.  They worked on it a few nights ago and took it out for the first time Saturday morning.  The good news is, they came back and the boat came with them!  It floats!  :)

We look forward to lots of great memories in our new fishing boat.  :)

Picture Perfect Summer Day

Last Sunday we had the picture perfect summer day.  It started off with church and then Robyn & Tyler came over for lunch.  We had chicken and shrimp kabobs (with pineapple, onions & green peppers) on the grill, cheesy mashed potatoes, and garlic biscuits.  Yum!

Then we spent the afternoon out in our kiddie blow-up pool (which Caleb loved!), soaking up the rays and enjoying cooling off.  All of us, except Caleb, got a little crispy.  But it sure was nice to relax in the water!

Here's one of the wet, drooly kisses from Caleb for his mommy.

Sportin' the swimmin trunks.

Then we enjoyed some dirt cake (oreo pudding dessert).  After that, we headed out to City Lake to catch some fish.  I was the only one who didn't catch any fish - but I was watching my own wiggly little baby fish.  :)  It was nice to be outside and take a moment to enjoy the view.

After fishing, we headed back to our house and had some delicious Eureka Pizza, while we chilled out with a movie, after a long day.  We were wiped out by the end of it.  What a picture perfect summer day!  (Especially for a girl who can't wait for fall to arrive...)

Father's Day 2011

Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there!  We spent the day with biscuits and gravy before church, watching movies, making and eating strawberry rhubarb pie, and just relaxing in general.  Caleb helped make a little gift for his daddy.  It didn't quite turn out the way I pictured it, but it's still a great memory to have.  :)

We tried to put Caleb's handprints on a tie, but it's more like paint blobs.  :)  haha.

He was covered in paint afterward, so we spent some serious scrubbing time in the bathtub.

He was sitting like a big boy in the cart, helping mommy shop!  Looks pretty happy!

Nick is an incredible father to Caleb and I just love watching the two of them interact.  It just makes you fall in love with your husband all over again to watch him be a dad to your child.  I appreciate all he does to support our family and am so glad God paired us together forever.  :)  He is a man better than I could have ever dreamed for myself!  I'm so glad God is a bigger dreamer than I am!

A shop vac for daddy!

And you can't have a father's day post without posting about your own father!  My dad rocks.  He is the best dad ever and I can't say enough how much I love having him as a dad.  He has the biggest servant heart I know and loves the Lord with all his heart.  He is so great at taking care of his girls, fixing our cars, giving advice, bailing us out of whatever, and just being a great dad in general.  I'm proud to be his daughter.  :)

Here are a few pics of my dad:

Also, I have a wonderful father-in-law.  I am very lucky to have a father-in-law that I love and admire. He raised a very great son (I know, I'm a little biased), wait - make that 3 very great sons who I consider to be my brothers.  He is a big family man and a godly man.

Here are some pictures of Nick and the fathers in his life:
