Chicago Trip: Day 1 - Shedd Aquarium

So we got up early early Monday morning and headed for Chicago around 2 a.m.  We were hoping that Caleb would sleep most of the way, which worked out pretty well.  He did wake up at 4 am but took a 2-3 hour nap later in the car ride.  We also bought a portable DVD player so that helped entertain the little one.  We made one stop along the way in Illinois to grab some breakfast at McD's.  We rolled into Chicago about 10-11ish am.  We headed straight for the Shedd Aquarium.  It is worth mentioning that it was an absolutely beautiful day out.  Perfect week actually in terms of weather.  This fall girl was in heaven.

The Shedd Aquarium was a really neat place.  We did have a little hiccup in getting in due to poor signage for the correct lines, but other than that it was awesome.  We decided to get the CityPass which gets you into 5 Chicago attractions for a cheaper price.

Caleb loved the aquarium.  And the freedom from the car.

We wore the poor boy out!  Hard day at the aquarium.

This was outside by the lake.  That building to the left of Nick's head is the Shedd Aquarium.

After the Aquarium, we found our hotel and got checked in.  Then we decided to find a place close by for dinner since we were pretty wiped out after a full night/day of traveling and all day at the aquarium.  We found this great sandwich place called Potbelly Sandwiches (there were actually several around Chicago).  It was soooo good.  I went for something different and got a chicken mediterranean which had hummus, feta, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers and cucumbers on it.  Yum!  And that cookie was the best cookie ever.  Chocolate brownie.  Perfectly soft in the center.  Needless to say, this was not our only cookie that week.

It was a great first day.  With lots of fun memories.  :)
