Easter 2013

On Easter weekend we made a last minute decision to go to Wichita and see the family.  We really didn't have anything going on here and it is always nice to be with family during the holidays.  We were staying with Nick's family, so we let them know we were coming and we surprised my parents.  My parents were helping out with the Easter Sun Run so we decided to just show up there.  Caleb loved all the attention he got from the high school girls who painted his face.

He wasn't too sure about the bunny, but it helped that Papa was holding him.

That afternoon, we went to a church near Todd & Claudia's neighborhood that has a HUGE, massive egg hunt every Easter.  They make a big event out of it with free hotdogs, a petting zoo, inflatables and all kinds of stuff.  It was a lot of fun.

They even handed out free sunglasses.

Not sure how a bright purple gorilla in a dress fits in, but she was handing out free candy so we were all for it. Well, Caleb wasn't too sure, haha.

He loved the egg hunt and loved opening the eggs for candy afterward.

It was such a fun day with beautiful weather and great company!

That night, Wichita State was playing in the March Madness tournament Elite Eight round to get in to the Final Four.  We were all pretty stoked and had a blast watching the game together.  It was so intense!  WSU won!  Go Shox!

After the game, we did some egg hunting inside Nana and Papa's house.  Uncle Jake did what all good uncles do and put some broccoli in some of the eggs.  Haha.  Caleb was hilarious to watch with that.  He would open it up and say, "Uncle Jake!  Broccowi candy!"

We went to church on Easter morning.  Here is the best picture I could get of me and my boy.

And we got to see Jake's girlfriend, Bekah.  Although Caleb likes to argue that she is his girlfriend.  Or "girlpend" as he likes to say.

After church and lunch, we had another little egg hunt outside of Nana's house.  By this point. Caleb was a pro at hunting eggs.  He was loving it.

Hunt was followed up with sidewalk chalk and bubbles.  What a lucky boy.

All the activity wore this boy out!

We are so glad we made the trip up.  It was so much fun and I think Caleb had a spectacular weekend!  Easter is such a special time of year and I am constantly amazed at the sacrifice God made in sending His Son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins.  I feel like my heart is learning more and more in little bits at a time about what grace looks like.  I have so much work to do in understanding and giving grace, but I am so grateful for his wonderful example of grace.  He is Risen!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Baseball season is upon us once again!  We love going to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals baseball games and they have started back up for the year!  Simmons has a suite, so we were lucky enough to get tickets and went with our friends, Jonathan and Rebecca (the ones who are having a little boy soon).  Caleb loves baseball, but Caleb does not love the mascot, Strike.  You see, Strike is a Sasquatch.  Yes, our Arkansas baseball team has a Sasquatch for a mascot.  Hilarious and weird, I know.  :)  Here is a picture:

Well, Strike came to visit us in the suite and Caleb was not a fan to say the least.  He was terrified.  And I guess I can't really blame him, that costume is pretty scary.  haha.  I had never seen him so scared.  Caleb had a death grip on me and would let me go the rest of the game.  He didn't want to go near Strike and the whole rest of the night, we had to keep Strike in our view so we could see where he was at all times.  Caleb liked it when Strike was down by the dugout and we were up high in the suite.

Other than the whole Sasquatch thing, we really had a great time!  And the Naturals won!

Cousin Fun

Two weekends ago, my nephew Jack came and spent the day with us on Saturday.  The boys had lots of fun and were so excited to see each other.

They helped me do laundry...

Jack must have worn Caleb out, haha!

They watched a little Toy Story while I made lunch since it was rainy outside.

Jack was really cuddly that day, so I snuck in a few cuddles.  You can tell how happy he was about it in this picture.

He also did not want to nap anywhere else than with me.  Caleb even wanted to sleep in "Jack's bed", aka the pack n play, so Caleb napped there, but Jack didn't want to have anything to do with the crib.  haha.  He fell asleep with me rocking him and the pandora lullaby station playing.  When I was sure he was deeply asleep, I tried to make the transition and as soon as he touched down in the crib he was up.  I think I lost some aunt points with that, haha.  So he only got a 30 minute nap, silly boy.  But he sure was sweet and cute.

After naptime, we headed downtown to the park.  The boys had a ball and wanted to go in opposite directions.

We had lots of fun on this cousin day!  I'm so glad these boys get to play together and see each other on a regular basis!  It's a pretty special connection.

Let me introduce you to Mac.  Or Mack as Nick likes to spell it.  Like a Mack truck.

This is the boys' new calf.  Last weekend, Nick helped a family friend of ours (from church and Simmons) work some cows and they came across this little guy who was about two weeks old and his mama had abandoned him.  He was eating grass instead of his mama's milk.  Brent was talking about how they'll have to find someone to take care of him and bottle feed him and check on him twice a day.  Nick volunteered to be that person and was looking forward to helping out and looking after the little guy.  Brent thought that was a great idea and said, "Why don't we just make that Caleb's calf?".  Nick politely declined and said he would just help out but Brent insisted.  And the boys were so glad he did.  They have been taking great care of Mack and it looks like the little guy is doing pretty well.  Caleb loves helping his daddy is is always so excited to go see Mack.

On his way to take care of Mack.  He's got his boots on and farm shirt and Razorback hat.  He is mid-"cheese!" here as he usually is when I tell him to look at the camera.  :)

We gotta get these boys a farm.  Or at least some land.
