We have eggs!

Guess what??!!  We now have eggs!  Last Friday, we got our first eggs from our chickens!  We got three eggs in one day (and we have three chickens).  Since then we have gotten one egg a day.  Caleb LOVES checking for eggs everyday when he comes home.  Nick and Caleb have both eaten them, but I haven't tried them yet.  They said the eggs were delicious!  We were so excited.  So on Saturday, Nick built the girls a nest to put in their coop and Caleb "helped".

Way to go girls!  They saved themselves from the dinner plate.  :)

Date Night on the Lake

Tuesday night, Nick took me on a date to Lake Wedington for a relaxing, peaceful canoe ride.  It was a beautiful, cool, crisp fall evening and the trees were just starting to turn.  It was such a nice evening - great date, conversation, views, weather.  Couldn't have asked for a more perfect night.  I'll just let the pictures do the talking.  Happy fall!

If you need a date idea, I would highly recommend this one!

Spontaneous Trip to Branson

About 3:30 pm last Friday, I got a wild hair and asked Nick on our work chat if he wanted to make a spontaneous last minute trip to Branson to watch the Cardinals baseball game with his grandparents.  They were playing the game to clinch their spot in the World Series.  We decided to go and rushed home and got our stuff together and headed to Branson.  We watched the game at Nick's Aunt Sherri's house with Sherri, Grandma, Grandpa and Nick's cousin Josh.  It was an awesome time and a special memory that we will never forget!  Plus the Cards won 9-0!!  Caleb stayed up past 11, haha and had a blast!

The next morning, Grandma had to work, but Grandpa took us to the Floating Cafe for breakfast, which you may remember from this post.

It was so sweet to watch Grandpa carrying Caleb around.  That boy loves all of his great grandparents!!

We had a delicious breakfast (my absolute favorite meal of the day!) and then fed the fish off the dock.

We headed back to the grandparent's house - where Nick had to break into the shed because we couldn't find a key and Grandpa had some stuff he wanted out of there!

We headed to lunch at Freddy's, where Tyler is working as a manager until about January or so when he will get his own brand new store in Rogers!  The service and food were excellent!

Mamaw met us for lunch and it was so good to see her!  Caleb got his birthday present from her.

After lunch, we drove over to the theater where the Braschler Music Show used to be, where Grandma B runs the front office and hung out with her for a little bit.  We also watched the first half of a show, The Fair Family 5.  After that, we headed home for the evening.

We are so glad we went and had a blast!  We are actually headed back up to Missouri this weekend for a fall work day at the Weiss farm (Nick's aunt Sherri and uncle Rex's house).  Looking forward to it!  And of course watching the Cards in the World Series!  #gocards  :)

Gentry Safari Family Fun

Last Friday, we decided to do a fun family activity.  Ideally, we would have liked to have taken the whole day or half a day off work to maximize our time together, but reality says that I have only half a day of vacation until the end of January, so I need to save it.  Anyway, we decided to go to the Gentry Wild Wilderness Safari.  Caleb loves animals so we thought he would love to see all different kinds.  He did!  There was a part we could walk around and see some animals and then there is a huge drive through part to see the bigger animals.  Everywhere we walked Caleb just kept saying, "Look!", "Hey mommy daddy look over there!", "Hey look!", "Look another animal!".  It was pretty cute.

He really like the giraffes, calling them "Melman" like on the movie Madagascar.  haha.

He wasn't too sure about being so close though!

We were kind of surprised at how lax they were with restraining the animals.  There were so many different kinds they just let roam free.  There were rabbits all around and goats and birds and all kinds of animals.  One lady (we are hoping this was a guest) was feeding a monkey some cheetos - nobody seemed to care either.  Ha!  Nick and I kept exchanging looks wondering if this was allowed.

After we walked around for awhile, we hopped in the truck to take the drive through path and see some of the bigger animals.  There were lots of miniature deer, some buffalo, these weird creepy ostrich-like bird things, zebras - Caleb called these Marty (from Madagascar), lions (in a cage), tigers (in a cage), antelope, rhinos (in enclosure), hippos (enclosure) - Caleb called these Gloria, from Madagascar (sensing a theme here?), and lots of other types of animals.  It was pretty cool to see all these animals.  Caleb had a blast almost the whole time - with some normal 2-going-on-3-year old whining peppered in there.

I had to capture this picture.  There actually is a thing called a Liger.  If you look real closely at the red sign.  Remember Napoleon Dynamite drew a picture of one?  haha, anyway - apparently it's a real thing.

We capped the evening off with pizza and a family movie (Ice Age).  It was a great Friday!

Birthday Week

I got to celebrate birthday week in style a few weeks ago.   I got to go on a lunch date with Nick to the Wooden Spoon.  If you live in NWA and have never been here - please go as fast as you possibly can.  It is one of our favorite places.  It is a perfect meeting place for us for lunch dates because it is exactly halfway from both of our offices.  My go-to meal there is the combo chicken salad sandwich and potato soup, so good!!  We also splurged and got sweet peach tea and peanut butter pie since it was my birthday!  The desserts there are amazing!

Aren't birthdays just about food??  That's ok by me!  haha.  We went to Marketplace for dinner and of course we got a chocolate peanut butter mess.  Yum.

Saturday morning, the doorbell rang and when I answered it, there was my niece Zoey just sitting on my porch in her carseat!  My family surprised me for a day trip visit!  Even my grandparents came and both sisters and parents and Zoey!  It was so fun to spend the day with them!  And they even brought an entire meal and fixed it for us.  Wonderful!!  What a great surprise!

When Nick was mowing, Caleb just wanted to sit there in his underwear and watch him.  haha.

It was a wonderful birthday weekend and I so appreciate my family coming down!
