The weekend before Easter we decided to go on a family trip to Roaring River to go fishing. We knew we wanted to do something special as the three of us before this baby arrived, and Caleb has been asking to go fishing so we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to take him and make some fun memories. Caleb was so excited about fishing, camping, making a fire, and roasting hotdogs and marshmallows.
I have so many pictures where he is posing like this. This is what he does when he is so excited about something. It happened a lot this weekend and it was so hilarious and heartwarming every time.
We played some Farkle.
Had yummy breakfasts of eggs (homegrown from our chickens!) and bacon.
And got in lots of fishing! Don't worry moms, we were watching Caleb closely the whole time, haha. He wanted to get as close to the water as possible.
Caleb got to help reel in all the fish we caught. Nick caught several both days that we fished and I caught two - one sucker and one teeny baby fish. Nick calls me the Trout Whisperer. Feel free to refer to me as such from now on. :)
I love how Caleb is looking at the fish. Not too sure about it.
We wore this boy out!
Nick got up early one morning and these were the nice trout he caught! Early morning is the way to go - before all the people get there and when the fish are freshly stocked.
And here's my bruiser. :)
We are so glad we got to make this trip happen. It was so nice to get away and relax and have some special family time. And we couldn't have asked for a better weekend weather-wise. So grateful for this memory!
